I hadn’t planted any new tulips for years but inspired by Monty Don I potted some up last autumn and they’ve rewarded me with a wonderful display and as a bonus – some of them have a lovely scent too, invoking a childhood memory – one particular orange variety has a very sweet orange scent – close your eyes and it’s like sniffing a bowl full of Haliborange tablets!
